Two axle systems in one vehicle solution

GigaMAX trio for rail vehicles in use by the Gruber/Universal team.

Gruber Logistics and its subsidiary Universal Transporte have always offered a wide range of transport services. Three GigaMAX combinations from Faymonville are now providing new options for special transport/rail-dedicated loads.

The vehicles are equipped with a number of special technical features that are specifically adapted to customer requirements. The low-loader is designed for use with 6x4 tractor units. For higher payloads, a 8x4 unit can also be used thanks to a total of nine adjustable fifth-wheel loads.

Pendle-axles combined with independent wheel suspension

The front bogie is integrated into the gooseneck. This ensures a compact overall length. In addition, 17.5" pendle-axles with a 12 tonne axle load are installed, which ensure a considerable 60° steering angle and high stroke.

The low bed in outer beam design can be telescoped by a further 2,000 mm from its basic length of 8,140 mm. Additional insertion tables can be integrated without the help of cranes or forklifts.

This is followed at the rear by a 3-axle bogie with Twin Axle II independent suspension with 17.5" tyres and also 12 tonnes axle load per axle line. This special mix of pendle axles at the front and independent wheel suspension at the rear ensures that the loading sill is kept particularly low from the low bed via the chassis.

Cable winch helps for loading process

The GigaMAX as a whole is designed for rail vehicles with a wide range of track widths. The loads can be pulled onto the low-loader using the hydraulic cable winch in the trough of the rear chassis.

The Gruber/Universal team can definitely look forward to new high-tech low-loaders with this GigaMAX trio. Many thanks for the strong cooperation in the technical development of these vehicles.
