Reverse into the Night

At the Swiss customer Vismara, the full strength of the MultiMAX semi low loader with independent Twin Axle II suspension is on display.

A bridge project in Switzerland pushes both people and equipment to their limits: over a distance of 20 kilometers, a 24-ton bridge section is transported and positioned with millimeter precision. The 36-meter-long and 3.3-meter-wide convoy is part of a temporary bridge structure that enables the dismantling of an old crossing. Swiss company Vismara handles the job using a four-axle MultiMAX semi low loader from Faymonville.

The biggest challenge comes at the end of the journey: to install the component precisely, the heavy transport must travel about one kilometer in reverse through the Vedeggio-Cassarate tunnel — against the direction of traffic and in the middle of the night.

This is where the full capabilities of the MultiMAX with Twin Axle II independent wheel suspension come into play. Especially during high-precision maneuvers, the independent wheel steering ensures exact navigation even in tight spaces like those inside the tunnel. Every movement is spot-on, every steering reaction immediate — the vehicle remains fully under control.

Thanks to its hydraulic wheel suspension, the MultiMAX dynamically adapts to uneven terrain, inclines, and gradients. The semi low loader maintains a stable position at all times and responds smoothly to changing conditions. Its large steering angle allows for extremely tight turning radii, even when reversing — a clear advantage when space is limited.

Supported by the hydraulically adjustable gooseneck, the MultiMAX overcomes every slope and bump on the final stretch to the installation site. With the Twin Axle II, a complex mission becomes a controlled masterclass.
